Given the Age, our social circles have become smaller with community outreach drifting more to online platforms. Even church services and Bible study group are more and more conducted online. The world has become first paced and highly networked through fast technology; this has drastically narrowed the pool of many single Christians when it comes to meeting a potential spouse. Nonetheless, God is unchanging, His Word never fails, falters or fades. However, the process of executing His Word varies with different generations and personal experiences.
For example, when the ‘1st generation’ of Israelites left Egypt under the leadership of Moses they came to the Red Sea the Lord commanded him “As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, so that the sons of Israel may go through the middle of the sea on dry land.”
When the ‘2nd generation’ of Israelites were entering the promised land under the leadership of Joshua they came to River Jordan. And these were God’s commands to him You shall command the priests who carry the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’” … Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you [leading the way] into the Jordan…. when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, [come to] rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan flowing down from above will be cut off, and they will stand in one mass [of water].”
Notice, two generations parallel miracle; the need to cross large mass of water and God makes a way literally. However, the technique is different. Same God, consistent miracle but different approach: Moses, lift your Staff. Joshua, the Priests with the Ark of covenant must wade in first.
Now, based on His PERSONAL dealings with each generation at each given TIME, God is ensuing a different process that draws out TRUST in Him alone.
You ask what has this got to do with Online dating?
Many Christians view online dating with biased misconception which is derived from society’s (church) prejudices and most importantly a demonstration of lack of trust in God. However, given my testimony having met my husband virtually, then met physically two weeks. God ‘confirmed’ him and today we are 7 years married. Unlike these days (even Christian matchmaking on TikTok), at the time there were no popular Christian dating sites. Yet, He used this unconventional means to begin painting a beautiful story that still lives many ears tingling.
A lot of Christian Women and men ‘BOX’ God based on the doctrines of religion (legalism), mere men, men of cloth, traditions and culture, and societal expectations. Because of this mindset many cannot discern the leading of the Holy Spirit, with prayer and supplication. That God can use any channel including today’s technology to bring your Kingdom spouse.
